Poker Tips

To some playing poker can appear like traveling to a different country. Like all other games, it has own language. A player who lacks a grasp of the terminology may as well just save time and hand their wallet to the dealer a unique set of set of rules actually govern what happens on the poker table. Within those regulations are subtleties and variations that could trim down the ill-informed player to tears.

The terms “longhand” and “shorthand” are just ways of describing how many people are sitting at your table. Longhand poker normally has 8 or more people playing. While in Shorthand poker there are six or less people are facing off around the table. In case of longhand poker, there are many categories of starting hands that you need to be aware of. Some of them are as follows:

AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK -These are considered the best hands, bar none. You raise like crazy when you are holding these cards. If you hold AA, you especially want to bulge the pot as much as possible.

TT, 99, AQ, KQ- Good one but not great, some self-control will benefit you when holding these hands. You usually need help from the board. Just about always in low-limit, you will need to hit a set with TT or 99 to win.

Small pocket pairs (55, 44, 33, 22)
Avoid playing these hands unless you are the type of person who thinks using pasta as a bungee chord is a good way to enjoy a weekend outing.
